liya yang is a director and producer based in los angeles.

She is driven by bold narratives that explore human connection, perception, memory, and gender. Filmmaking is a soul-searching experience for her – intuitive yet deliberate – shaped by a deep belief in the emotional and political weight of image-making.

liya studied film & TV production at the University of Southern California and currently works at the kennedy/marshall company. she also collaborates on select commercial projects, notably for Katseye.

some filmmakers that inspire her are Michael haneke, Bong joon ho, and Joachim Trier.
